RESEARCH AND CURRENT PROJECTS

Our research focuses on developing, validating and applying methods for computer simulation of chemical and biological processes on the molecular level.

Our advanced computer programs are used to explore the frontiers of molecular biophysics and protein engineering. One of our main research projects involve the simulation of the energetics and dynamics of biological reactions. This research concentrates on the basic understanding of the molecular origin of protein function and especially the origin of enzyme catalysis. For these projects we have developed new simulation approaches that allow one, for the first time, to study the energetics and dynamics of real bond breaking reactions in enzymes and in solution.
